The MinNA project tackles a complex interdisciplinary scientific field of present interests, with real chances of joining to other European Technology Platforms. It responds to the requirements imposed by the general objective of the 4th Program – pursuing the improvement of the research and development (R&D) competitiveness of all 5 research organizations implied, by building a performant and durable partnership between them and a SME interested in the undertaking and promoting the research results in the field of the priority domain 7 - Innovative materials, processes and products.
The research subject of the project aims to the development of novel InN-based materials for the next generation of high performance optoelectronic devices, based on innovative technologies. Therefore, it is in agreement with the secondary objectives of the 4th Program, by creating ecologic products and technologies, in the project being developed novel materials and synthesis technologies with high added value. Due to the complex and multidisciplinary character of the research implied and because of its tasks – the controlled and reproducible development of novel semiconductor materials at laboratory technology scale – the project subject corresponds to the research direction 7.1- Advanced materials.
The general aim of the current project is to obtain novel InN-based semiconductor materials with prefigurable proprieties for specific applications: high mobility of the charge carriers and with the photoluminescent emission, band-gap and conduction type controlled by the parameters of the fabrication process by UHV-PVD ecologic deposition methods. The project aims to develop novel, environmentally friendly technologies for the fabrication of InN-based thin films, with a high reproducibility degree obtained through the automation and real-time control of the fabrication processes, with reduced production costs for industry applications. In correlation with the indicatives of the 4th Program, the results of the proposed research project will be materialized in: - the controlled and reproducible development of novel materials and technologies with high added value, resulting in minimum 2 patent applications, at least 15 articles published in ISI indexed journals, and obtaining the publishing accept for at least 3 articles in ISI quoted journals. - the quality and performance level improvement of the R&D activities performed in the frame of the Consortium, the creation of new about full-time positions (that include PhD and post-doc positions), the integration in ERA, and the increasing of the Romanian research visibility by publishing high quality papers in ISI quoted and indexed journals, presentation to international l conferences and active presence of the industrial partner at international fairs. - knowledge improvements in the field of synthesis and characterization of the novel InN-based advanced materials for optoelectronics applications, for structures which increased photoluminescence at room temperature ; - software and hardware development for automation of the thin film deposition processes, based on the plasma and deposition parameters as real-time feed-back inputs; - improvement of the international visibility of the project team by patent applications, published ISI papers, participation to international congresses and international partnerships; - proper management of the intellectual property within the project; - technology and know-how transfers to the SME co-financing the project. - engaging the graduating students in research activities on the subject of the project, leading to the elaboration of their PhD thesis, MS and/or graduation dissertations. |
